Live Your Life in Awe of God

Psalm 33: 4-9 (ESV) “For the word of the Lord is upright, and all His work is done in faithfulness. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord. By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of His mouth all their host. He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; He puts the deeps in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him! For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood firm.”

Sometimes I worry that we have reversed our roles with God. When I say role reversal, what I mean is that it seems like we created Him out of our own imagination. And that He is here to serve us. You might say, “Don’t be ridiculous.” But we get so wrapped up in our everyday lives that God gets put on the shelf of things to do later. That is some of the worst thinking we can ever do. We must always have the Lord at the forefront of our thoughts which reveals itself through our actions. We only exist because of Him. So why are we so negligent in our reverence?

If we only knew how many times He has stepped in through His steadfast love and faithfulness to give us another chance at discovering the wonder of Him. And how many of us older ones have looked back through our lives and say, “Man, that was a waste of time!” We are here for the relationship with the Father Almighty. It is very plain and very simple. Anything we put above that is wrong. God first!

Never degrade your relationship with your Heavenly Father for trinkets or pride. Be in awe of Him. Walk your walk in awe. Treat everyone you meet with grace and dignity because the God of awe created them too. Start every day in awe!

Amen?
